How to obtain a Quotation for your new Kitchen                 

In order for us to quote on your do-it-yourself kitchen, we will need you to provide information about your room and the kitchen you would like to build.  It will take you some time to do this properly, but time spent well here will help you build a much better kitchen.  Do not rush this process.  You will have to live with your new kitchen for many years, and you will want that experience to be a pleasurable one.

Step 1 - Room Dimensions

Measure the dimensions of your room. 

It is important to record the location of your doors and windows (including window height above the floor) and ceiling height.

Step 2 - Benchtop Height

Choose the height of your benchtop.  Traditionally benchtops have been 900mm high.  950mm high benchtops are now often chosen with people becoming taller.

Step 3 - Base Unit Height

If you choose a 900mm benchtop height your base units will be 720 high.  770 high for 950mm benchtops.  This drawing will help you determine your bench height - 720 readikit elevation

Step 4 - Wall Unit Height

Your wall unit height will be determined after considering several factors

• floor to ceiling height - the more height you have available, the taller your cabinets can be
• size of your kitchen - if you have only a small area for your kitchen, you will want to maximize your storage space and use the tallest possible wall units.  If you have a large kitchen, you will probably choose your wall unit height for aesthetic reasons - or, to suit the height of the user (so he/she can reach the top shelf).

Step 5 - Kitchen Layout

A good kitchen layout will help make food preparation, cooking and cleaning easier.  It is good if you can do your layout and then imagine you are in your new kitchen preparing your favourite meal.

Where will your refrigerator be? Stove? Oven? Microwave? Sink? Cutlery, Cooking Utensils, Pots and Pans, etc.?  Where will you serve your food?  Try to make a triangle between your fridge, sink and stove.  Do you have room for a walk-in-pantry (a room)?  Breakfast bar?

This a very important part of your DIY kitchen,  What you are about to build you will have to live with for a long period of time.  Spend a good week (or month) thinking about this.  Bounce your ideas off friends and associates.  Use our kitchen planner to help you layout your kitchen.

Step 6 - Cabinet and Drawer Fronts

You have a choice to make now.  What type of doors, drawer fronts and end panels do you want in your kitchen. 

Your choices are:

1. "Contour" - low pressure laminate
2. Vacuum Formed Vinyl
3. Two Pack Polyurethane
4. Timber Veneer
5. Solid Timber

Step 7 - Benchtop

If you would like us to quote on supply of your benchtop we will need to know:

1. All dimensions
2. Location of any joins (remember for a laminate benchtop the maximum bench length you can have without a join is 3.6m)

Step 8 -  Hardware

We can supply your hinges, handles, drawer runners, full extension drawer runners, soft close hinge attachments etc.  If you would like these included in your quotation, please specify your requirements.

Step 9 - Submission:

If you have completed the above 8 steps, you should have all you need to submit to us for your DIY Kitchen quotation.  Please fax or email us the following

You should note we are happy to quote individually for any or all of the above.  If you only want to "spruce up" your existing kitchen, you may only want us to quote on 3 and 4 - no problems.
